Hi,

Just purchased the extension (v3). Nice work!

I was wondering if it would be possible to consider assigning a language parameter to categories ? Either that or allow language based naming so that multilingual sites aren't limited.

Thanks
Danny

Hi Danny-- unfortunately IP is a pretty complex product with an extensive DB structure that doesn't really lend itself to the Joomla multilingual system. For that reason we recommend using Falang, which will allow you to create a much more robust multilingual IProperty site than you could do with the core language functions alone.

Thanks

Hi Tim,

So far, the language file is doing a good job of translating things. I'm only seeing translation problems with the Category names and the Sales types. Besides those, the rest looks pretty good.

I will look at Falang but it feels a little heavy for just a few titles, no ?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you-- language files will work great for single language sites or for translating static text strings in multilingual sites-- but the actual content of IP (eg. property descriptions, titles, agent bios, etc.) will not be translated without the use of a component like Falang.

Is this not your situation? If you're just needing to translate the categories / sale types, those are not strings in the language file-- they are DB items like the property listings. So you would need to translate them via Falang, or you could just switch them to the "main" language of the site using the stype / categories panels in the IP admin panel.

No, you understood me well :-)

I realize those parameters are fields (or value) in the database.

I believe some extensions create a separate table for values like this that can hold multilingual values.

Any hoot, no worries, i'll take a look at Falang.

Thanks
Danny
