I am wondering if it is possible to have a local file directory or something similar so that I can edit the iProperty components files and when the developer updates the scripts my edited files wont be affected?

Thanks

Hi Daniel-- in Joomla the right way to do this is typically via "overrides" which allow you to edit layouts and manipulate data without affecting core files.

Hi Tim -- Could you assist me how to do this with a simple example please? Could I just use a different directory inside the component such as 'local' as I have done this before with other components but I wasn't sure if that would work and if it was just that way for that component.

Thanks

There's a pretty solid discussion of how this works here: docs.joomla.org/J3.x:How_to_use_the_Template_Manager
