jfitting created the topic: Commercial real estate site - heavy modifications
Many thanks to Vinny and Tim for a really great component and wonderful support! You helped us save a lot of time on our project with a well-designed software product and helpful advice as we modified the templates to fit our needs.
Our client, ECHO Retail -
, needed only a portion of the functionality in iProperty, but they are very pleased with the result.
We added a clickable map of the USA to the mod_ip_quicksearch module so searches for commercial properties by state can be made with one click. When you get to the property listings you will see that the search filter form has been moved to the side to match the location and appearance of the form on the module from the previous page. We brought the "Docs" tab out to its own area on the property details page. We also re-purposed many of the "Details" fields to build a table of key demographics for the property's location.
The clickable map also reads the property database so that states are highlighted only if they exist in the database. That's a nice feature so that the client won't have to jump through hoops when they add new entries for states where they haven't been listed in the past.
I'm including the ECHO site as an example of what you can do with iProperty if you are willing to invest some time. The support forums offer a lot of information about modifications to help you. Of course, making extensive modifications can mean that future upgrades will not be so easy, but that's a decision you have to make with your eyes open.
