Can this be programmed for?

I need to build a college advisory website..

I would like to know if your component can do the following

1) Have 3 logins, Admin - Counselors - Students

2) When students sign up, they automatically see 3 pre-defined projects, or 5 pre-defined projects, depending on sign-up option.
*pre-defined projects house word document and upload file button for students and counselors to exchange information and communicate.

3) Counselors are assigned to a student.

Hi  - it sounds like Project Log will get you pretty close to what you need. As long as you assign your groups and project permissions correctly, not sure about the 'assigning counselors' to groups though - that will take some modifications most likey. Project Log is a free component so feel free to download it and modify it to suit your needs. Thanks.

Hi - I'm afraid that's up to you to figure out. You'll have to set the permission accordingly to allow new students who do not belong to a group to view certain projects and not others. Like I said in my last post, your customizations are most-likely going to need modification to the code.

If you can figure out a way to do it without having to dig into the code, great! Group permissions can get a lot accomplished if set correctly but since I don't know your plan for the flow of your site I can't be much help. Good luck and let us know any questions about the component. thanks.
