Hello, here is what I need to do...there is about 10 individuals throughout hte US that need to have access to VIEW all projects - NOT just their projects. However, they need to be only able to add and EDIT only theirs...?!?!?!

How would I go about doing this?

User 1 adds a projects, User 2 can see that project but can only VIEW, User 1 needs to Edit the project status or notes and can only edit User 1's projects but still sees Users 2, 3, 4, etc. projects.

Please Help!!

Hi - by adding these 10 users to all groups they would be able to view all projects. The default behavior for users who are not admin level but have project edit privileges is this: they will be able to add projects in any group they belong to, but will only be able to edit/delete their own. So to make it work for your needs it sounds like you just need to:

1. Add these 10 users to all groups
2. Set these 10 users access levels to the same level you have set for 'project edit access' in your Project Log parameters.

Hope this helps. Let us know questions. Thanks.

You wouldn't set up a group for each user - ideally you will want to create groups that correlate to projects. For example if you have 'Project One' that you only want certain users to view, you would create a group for that project - we'll call this group 'Project One Group'.

Any users can be added to that group, along with the 10 users who you want to be able to add/edit projects for all projects. The difference between these ten users vs. the other 'normal' users in the group is that the 10 users will have a slightly higher Joomla user level than the others - maybe 'author' level for example.

Then in your Project Log parameters you would set the 'Add/Edit Projects' parameter to 'author'. Now 'normal' users in the group can view projects, but only the 10 'author' users will be able to add/edit their own projects. Make sense? Let us know questions. Thanks.
