Hi

I know that it's not possible to create a subcategory for contacts.
But would it be possible to install two versions of workforce - one to manage the internal and one to manage the external contacts?

I guess you would just have to rename the component or something and install it again. Is that possible?

Thanks
Jaren

Hi - it's possible to run multiple instances of WF on one site, but this requires renaming files, folders and also possibly modifying the db table names so there's no conflicts. It's not an easy job but it is possible.

WF does not have subcategories, but will it not work to create your departments and copy employees from the admin list view - then create menu items to the 'internal' or 'external' departments? Let us know questions. Thanks.

Hi
Running a second version would be the best solution for me. The second solution doesn't work for me.

Which files have to be changed? And do I have to do this myself?

Thanks

Hi - yes, you'll need to manually change file names and do a global find and replace of any instances of 'com_workforce' and name it something different in the code. It's not hard, but kind of tedious and takes some time. You might just do a google search for 'multiple instances of Joomla component' and you should find some useful info explaining the process.

I've got a question regarding this topic...if I change all the references to com_workforce and change it to say com_workforce2 will the database tables be created properly or do I need to do something specific for the database?

P.S. I would be sweet if Workforce had a "locations" selector :)
